Hello world.

This blog has been dormant for a very long time. Since December 15th 2012 to be precise.

The last post which was posted on December 15th 2012 was intended to be the penultimate post about my trip to Denali. There was to be one more. Denali 9.

I actually wrote Denali 9. I was quite pleased with it. I drew some appropriately humble conclusions from my time in the wild. I was actually really REALLY happy with it.

Somehow in trying to post it, I lost it. It disappeared. I didn’t have a back-up of it or anything. It’s the kind of thing that is almost unthinkable in 2025. It was pretty rare already in 2012. But I went first into denial. And then psychological paralysis around it. I couldn’t stand the thought of trying to recreate it. It was easier to just pretend the blog didn’t exist and move on.

Why write a compromised blog entry when you can just blow up the whole world and walk away?

So anyway, I am, for a number of reasons, going to try to resuscitate this blog now. So stay tuned. Let me also recognize and own that a distressing percentage of the content on this blog is reflections on neglecting the blog. Well so be it. Or as Mr. Vonnegut would say: “So it goes.”

Also: I have ceased almost all activity on social media, but if you want to comment here, that might be fun.
