Very grateful to read the full story, and hear your voice strong and clear now. I’ve been thinking of you a great deal and hope that this is the be all and end of the wrestling match with this thing. Not your thing. the thing that hurt your thing. Its autumn now upstate NY and a bit melancholy. Been a strange bittersweet summer. Wow what an adventure... and I am so glad that you are ok now. When I heard it from Akiko, I could not picture it. but now I see the whole, it was a MAJOR!

OMFG!!! Keeee-ripes, I’m glad you’re ok and on the mend. Wow. Adventure indeed. I will share this with Michael when he gets back from his adventure…at Burning Man! He found a ticket and a group of guys who converted a 40 foot school bus and headed up last Sunday morning at 3am. Last text was at 5pm that day as he dropped off the grid. I expect him to pop up again sometime Monday afternoon. I’ve got too much going on to be there this year, and I’m all good with that. Though I am having moments of deeply wishing I could teleport in for just a few hours – it would be awesome to be in that wide-open space again. Maybe next year.

So glad you’re ok. Love to Akiko and to you, ya big red bear. xoJess PS – LOVE that you’re blogging.

I am a 40 year old woman who on my 39th birthday was diagnosed with stage 4 ovarian cancer. Much too young for this. Over the next year I found out what it was like to become an “ostimate”. I would have much rather had your education but anyways… I was looking for clothing online and your blog showed up and I wanted you to know that I appreciate how you wrote about it. Wish there were more like you in this world. Rhonda P.S. put up a huge fight and now cancer free but will be an ostimate the rest of my life. I am alive and that is what counts.

Love your astute observations. Discovered your blog while researching Rita, etc. Keep it up. tThere are patterns here and your blog has recorded them from Haiti back to aftermath of Katrina and Rita. The Shock Doctrine, The Wrecking Crew and yes Cormac McCarthy,have been telling us it’s here. When are we going to realize this was on purpose, not a literary fiction, philosophy or conversational social theory.

There’s a character in Infinite Jest (she’s head of the Militant Grammarians of Massachusetts) who carries a red pen around with her so she can correct public grammar errors and protests grocery stores who refuse to change the express lane check out sign to 10 items or fewer. A red sharpie and some sticky notes or something and you could take this whole n’other level.
